To mark International Women's Rights Day, our consultancy highlights the work of the endowment fund Taking action for women's hearts which it has supported financially. A look at a scheme that invests in women.

 

Cardiovascular disease in women is a little-known reality


 

With 75,000 deaths a year, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women in Franceand the 1 in 3 women.

Several factors play a part in this reality:

  • Delays in screening and diagnosis, and sometimes ill-adapted treatments. Historically, these diseases affected men more than women, but today women have more risk factors, notably due to biological and hormonal specificities. Yet there is still a lack of information.
  • Social inequalities can lead to a risk of excess premature mortality
  • Territorial disparities create difficulties in access to healthcare

 

Awareness and prevention to improve women's heart health


 

Founded on the conviction that women's heart health deserves special attention, the endowment fund Taking action for women's hearts deploys a wide range of actions throughout France. These include the Women's Heart Bus provides free cardiovascular and gynecological screening in disadvantaged neighborhoods.
